Google Search Console

Connect a verified Google Search Console property to see real organic-search performance beside your TypeUI Insights analytics. Search Console uses its own date range and comparison, so it never changes the traffic period selected elsewhere on the dashboard.

TypeUI requests read-only Search Console access. This permission is separate from signing in or registering with Google and is requested only when a workspace editor chooses Connect Google.

Requirements

  • A TypeUI plan that includes Insights
  • A verified website in TypeUI Insights
  • Workspace editor access for that website
  • A Google Account with access to a Search Console property covering the same website
  • Search performance data in Google Search Console

Verify the TypeUI website

Open the website in TypeUI Insights and complete website verification before connecting Google. The Search Console button remains unavailable until TypeUI has verified the website origin.

The registered website must be a public HTTPS origin, such as https://example.com or https://www.example.com.

Check the Google property

Sign in to Google Search Console with the account you plan to connect. That account must be an owner, full user, or restricted user of a matching property.

TypeUI can match either:

  • An exact HTTPS URL-prefix property, such as https://www.example.com/
  • A Domain property that covers the website hostname, such as example.com

URL-prefix properties are exact: protocol and subdomain matter. For example, http://example.com/ does not cover https://example.com, and https://example.com/ does not cover https://www.example.com. A Domain property covers its supported protocols and subdomains. See Google's property guide for the differences.

Open website settings

Open the website dashboard, choose Website settings, and find Google Search Console. This connection belongs to that website, not to every website in the workspace.

Choose Connect Google. If TypeUI asks for multi-factor authentication first, complete the security check and continue from the settings page.

Grant read-only access

Choose the Google Account that has access to the matching property and approve the read-only Search Console permission.

This authorization is intentionally separate from Google sign-in. TypeUI does not request Search Console access when someone merely creates an account or signs in with Google.

After authorization, TypeUI asks Google for the properties available to that account and automatically chooses the best property covering the exact TypeUI website. TypeUI saves nothing if Google returns no matching property.

Confirm the matched property

After Google redirects back to TypeUI, the settings card shows the matched property and the last time Search Console data was loaded.

For a broad Domain property, TypeUI filters page-level results to the exact registered website origin. This prevents data from another protocol or subdomain from being presented as data for the connected TypeUI website.

OAuth access and refresh tokens are encrypted before storage. Choose Disconnect to delete the saved connection, or Reconnect Google to switch accounts and repeat property matching.

Use Search performance

Return to the website analytics dashboard and find Google Search performance after the heatmap section.

The four summary metrics are:

MetricMeaning
ClicksVisits from a Google Search result
ImpressionsTimes a link to the website appeared in Google Search
Average CTRClicks divided by impressions
Average positionAverage topmost position in Google Search results

Use the independent Search Console date picker to select a period and add an optional comparison. The breakdown view includes Queries, Pages, Countries, and Devices. You can search queries or pages, change the visible mobile metric, and sort the complete Google-available result set before moving between pages.

Data availability

TypeUI displays finalized, read-only data returned by Google and does not estimate missing rows. Google typically makes Search performance available after a delay of a few days and may omit anonymized or low-volume detail rows. As a result, detailed query rows do not always add up to the totals shown above them.

Google also limits how many Search Analytics rows its API exposes. See Google's performance-data guide for current availability and API limits.

Troubleshooting

No matching property

  • Confirm you selected the Google Account that can open the property in Search Console.
  • Check the registered TypeUI origin for https, www, and another subdomain difference.
  • Add or request access to the exact HTTPS URL-prefix property, or use a covering Domain property.
  • Return to website settings and choose Connect Google again.

The dashboard has no Search data

  • Open the same property in Google Search Console and confirm its Performance report contains data.
  • Choose a date range that ends several days ago rather than today.
  • Confirm the website has appeared in Google Search during the selected period.
  • Remember that Google can withhold some detailed rows even when totals are available.

TypeUI asks you to reconnect

Google access may have been revoked or the saved authorization may no longer be valid. Open website settings, choose Reconnect Google, select the correct account, and approve read-only access again.
