Payment Provider Availability
Learn how TypeUI routes new subscriptions to Stripe or Polar based on payment-provider tax coverage and country availability.

TypeUI uses Stripe and Polar for hosted subscription checkout. For a new subscription, TypeUI uses an approximate country signal from the network request to select the provider whose tax coverage is intended for that market. A VPN, proxy, mobile carrier, or inaccurate network location can affect that signal. The checkout provider makes the final decision about payment methods, billing eligibility, taxes, sanctions, and transaction acceptance.
The provider shown on a pricing card is the default recommendation. You can select Stripe or Polar from the provider menu before starting checkout. A manual choice does not expand either provider's country, tax, payment-method, or transaction eligibility. TypeUI remembers your explicit choice in this browser and reuses it on later visits until you choose the other provider or clear your browser storage. Without a manual choice, an existing subscription continues through its original provider even if the customer's network location later changes.
Checkout with Stripe
TypeUI routes new subscriptions to Stripe when the detected country is one of the 82 countries where Stripe Managed Payments handles cross-border indirect-tax compliance for digital products. In those countries, Stripe calculates and collects required indirect tax, registers and files returns, remits tax, and issues tax invoices where required.
Stripe states that Managed Payments can still act as merchant of record for payments in countries outside this tax-coverage list, but the seller remains responsible for indirect-tax compliance there. TypeUI therefore routes those markets, including Brazil, to Polar instead.

Checkout with Polar
TypeUI routes other new subscriptions to Polar. Polar states that it supports payments globally except from countries subject to the US sanctions listed in its documentation and that, as merchant of record, it assumes liability for international sales taxes. Availability remains subject to Polar's current rules and transaction review.
