Variations
TypeUI variations give your AI tool more than one layout direction for the same UI request. Instead of getting a single generated section or page, TypeUI can suggest multiple versions so you can compare structure, density, hierarchy, and component choices.
Variations are useful when you want options before committing to one direction. For example, a hero section can be generated as a centered product launch hero, a split product screenshot layout, or a more immersive full-bleed scene depending on what fits your page.
How variations work
When your agent asks TypeUI for UI guidance, TypeUI can return several layout versions for the same prompt. Each version uses the same design skill, but explores a different structure or composition.
Use variations when you want to:
- compare multiple layout directions
- find a better starting point before refining
- explore different density levels
- see alternate ways to organize the same content
- give your agent a clearer direction after reviewing options
Make this dashboard easier to scan.
After you choose the version you like, keep building from that direction with another simple request.

Update your variation setting
You can control how many layout versions TypeUI should generate from your dashboard.
Go to Dashboard settings, then update UI generation variations. The setting lets you choose from 1 to 5 variations per prompt. The recommended value is 3 because it gives you enough options without making the agent response too heavy.
Higher values can give you more options, but they may use more tokens.
